Congratulations to The Hibernian Orchestra on the success of their Summer Gala Concert. It was a delight to be in the bass section, strengthened by the fabulous Maeve Shieil and Helen Morgan and with my wonderful desk partner Grainne Dunne. Star of the bass section was the incredibly talented young bassist Aisling Reilly, who featured in the solo in the 3rd movement of Mahler’s 1st Concerto! Well done Aisling!
The other highlight was hearing Martin Johnson play Elgar’s cello concerto. Martin is the principle cellist in the NSO. It was a stunning performance. Next classical project is playing with the Co-Orch Dublin in the Village as a fundraiser for Operation Smile, Dublin on the 21st June. http://www.facebook.com/coorch.dublin
