I’m just back from a trip to Australia where I attended the Power of Music: Joint MSA / ICME Conference, 2011. There was a wealth of fascinating papers being presented, but one of the more practical things I learned was a beginners carnatic/karnatic, exercise from Toby Wren. He also had a show at the Ellington which I feel appropriately guilty for not attending, but one can’t do everything.
Like the first conference I attended in Cambridge (the CFP: Performance Studies Network International Conference), it really opened my mind and informed me about the field/fields that my own research is involved in. A lot of reading to be done!
